Jack Frost Organizers are Delighted with the Amount of Snow Recent Storms have brought

(Charlottetown, PEI, January 15, 2009) – Organizers for the Jack Frost Children’s WinterFest presented by The Confederation Bridge are delighted with the mountains of snow that recently landed in Charlottetown.

In preparation of the arrival of head sculptor Peter Vogelaar, due to arrive at the end of the month, seven snow crew have been hired to begin building the site of the Aliant Snow Kingdom, Monday, January 19th.  Over the course of the next couple of weeks, crew will be moving and assembling snow, building forms and making snow.

“Last year Jack Frost Children's WinterFest presented by the Confederation Bridge decided to purchase their own snowmaker to cut down on rental and operating costs from the previous years, “says Lee Gauthier, CEO, Tourism Charlottetown and The Prince Edward Island Convention Partnership. “We’re welcoming the cold weather, which is ideal for making snow.”

Aliant Snow Kingdom, the home of Jack Frost, will be made from over 70 tonnes of compacted snow. This year’s theme, “Enchanted Kingdom” will bring snow to life in a whimsical world of fairies, dragons, wizards and magical creatures of all kinds. For 2009 the Aliant Snow Kingdom will be transformed into an interactive snow playground featuring the all new Technomedia jungle gym, four lane penguin slide, obstacle course, and igloo village, snow box, and LOTS MORE SLIDES!

The gigantic CAT Run, presented by The CAT Rental Store, is one of the most popular family attractions is already under construction.  Thanks to The City of Charlottetown and Island Coastal we have been collecting snow from all over Charlottetown, since the first big snow storm of the New Year, to build what will be the BIGGEST CAT Run the Festival has seen.
