(Charlottetown, June 23, 2008) Tourism Charlottetown announced today that MuchMusic’s popular show Going Coastal will be on location at the Atlantic Superstore Festival of Lights, June 28 - 30. East Coast Host, Paul Brothers will be on location in Charlottetown to film 2 one hour shows that will be aired sometime in August.
From East to West and everything in-between, MuchMusic’s Going Coastal brings fans the best music from the fringes of our country. The Charlottetown segment will feature interviews with the artists and the fans and will look at the Charlottetown pop culture and music scene.
“This is so exciting for Charlottetown,” says Kim Green, CEO of Tourism Charlottetown. “The Festival is known as the place to be on Canada Day Weekend attracting some of the best bands in the business and fans from all over. And now we’re proud to host Canada’s #1 music station. This type of publicity creates awareness for the destination and the festival. This coverage is invaluable because it can’t be bought.”
The Festival starts on Saturday, June 28th with the Atlantic Lottery Concert Series starring Billy Talent, The Trews and State of Shock. On Sunday, June 29th, the concert is headlined by Hinder, Canada’s own Our Lady Peace with an opening performance by Matt Mays and El Torpedo. Monday, June 30th features Collective Soul with Canadian Rock Icons, The Tragically Hip.
Ticket sales have been exceptionally strong this year,” says Green. “We’re just waiting to get a ticket update from the outlets after the weekend. “Because all the bands are so popular, passports are the clear favorite. In the past there have been several concerts that have sold out. The last week of sales is always the busiest so we encourage everyone to get out and get their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment at the gates.”
Passports grant you admission to all concerts and are available for only $69 plus taxes and a $2 service fee! Get your passport at Atlantic Superstores Island-wide, at Founders’ Hall, online at www.charlottetowntickets.com or by phone at 1-800-955-1864. Individual tickets are also available for $37 plus taxes each and a $2 service fee. Individual tickets are not available at Atlantic Superstores.
