(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE, February 18, 2008) - The Flying Canucks, elite past, present and future Olympic athletes training in the sports of freestyle skiing, moguls, snowboard and trampoline will perform throughout this weekend at the Jack Frost Children's WinterFest presented by the Confederation Bridge. Be at Confederation Landing Park to watch as these Olympians offer unique one-of-a-kind performances, off a 40-foot mobile ski ramp, and on trampolines.
The Flying Canucks presented by McDonald's, will feature a combination of action and athleticism. Soaring 30-feet in the air, The Flying Canucks will perform outstanding aerial acrobatic skiing, snowboarding and new-school freestyle 'Big Air' maneuvers. Following each performance the audience is invited to meet The Flying Canucks for photos and autographs. Come meet these amazing athletes.
Jeff Bean (aerial skier)
Born and raised in Ottawa; Jeff has been a member of the Canadian Freestyle National Aerials Team for 11 years (1997 to 2007). He's a 3-time Olympian (1998 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, 2006 Torino), and a Vice-World Champion. He has 17 podium finishes at the World Cup, and also a 2-time Canadian Champion. Just retired from competition, Jeff is working towards an arts degree with a major in law. (Jeff is fluently bilingual.)
Miha Gale (aerial skier)
Born and raised in Ljubljana (Slovenija) Miha was a member of the Slovenian National Team for 12 years. Now residing in Montreal, Miha is also a 3-time Olympian (1988 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, 2006 Torino), and a 2-time Europa Cup Overall Champion. Miha has been performing at ski shows around the world since 1996 - in Dubai, Madrid, Hong Kong, and all over Canada, USA and Europe.
Jean-François Therrien (mogul skier)
Born in St-Jérôme, Quebec, but now resides in Laval, Quebec. Jean-François spent 4 years as a member of the Canadian World Cup Moguls Ski Team. When time permits, Jean-François also enjoys golfing and surfing. He is also considering a career as a firefighter. In the meantime, he's taking university courses in business administration.
