| Most Passengers ever recorded at the Charlottetown Airport |
|
September 10th, 2007, Charlottetown PEI -- The Charlottetown Airport Authority has experienced its busiest month on record with 38,944 passengers enplaning and deplaning in the month of August. August passenger traffic increased by 14.8% compared to August 2006 and the overall traffic at the airport is up to 12.6% year to date. “August was very busy and we are pleased that it has been such a great year,” said Cliff Campbell, Chair of the Charlottetown Airport Authority. “Travelers have been taking advantage of the reasonably priced flights offered by our growing number of carriers.” Campbell noted, “People often ask me why the airport is doing so well, I believe it comes down to convenience and choice. There are more carriers and flights than ever before and the market has responded, tourists want the ease of access of flying to their vacation destination and Islanders would rather fly from their home Province if given the choice.” “This record breaking air passenger traffic is a benefit to many businesses including; car rentals, taxis, food and beverage establishments and tourism accommodations,” added Campbell. The Charlottetown Airport Authority serves Prince Edward Island with regularly scheduled direct flights each day to destinations including: Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, and Boston. Carriers Air Canada Jazz, WestJet, Sunwing, Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines now offer regular daily service. -30- Contact: Mr. Doug Newson CEO Charlottetown Airport Authority Telephone: 902-566-7997 ext. 22 |
