About Tourism Charlotettown

On March 31, 2006, the Capital Commission of Prince Edward Island and Meetings PEI merged to become Tourism Charlottetown & the Prince Edward Island Convention Partnership Inc. Tourism Charlottetown and the Prince Edward Island Convention Partnership is a non-profit
organization led by a private sector board of directors.

Mission Statement

 

Tourism Charlottetown & the Prince Edward Island Convention Partnership is a dynamic, creative and results-based team of professionals that are respected by industry partners, clients and competition as experts within the market segments that each represent.

Each market segment will have an integrated approach to sales, marketing and product development. Our strategies are research-based, measurable and based on partnership with our industry. These market segments are:

MC&IT (Meetings, Conventions & Incentive Travel ~ including Associations, Corporate, Incentive Houses, Third-Party Meeting Planners and Independent Meeting Planners) – PROVINCIAL SELL & BRAND
Cruise – PROVINCIAL DESTINATION SELL/ CHARLOTTETOWN PORT SELL & PEI BRAND
Motorcoach and FIT (Fully Independent Travel) - CHARLOTTETOWN SELL & BRAND
Leisure IT/Pleasure Visitors – CHARLOTTETOWN SELL & BRAND
Sport Tourism (SCORE!) – CHARLOTTETOWN SELL & BRAND

 


Vision


Tourism Charlottetown and The PEI Convention Partnership undertakes research, champions product development and is exclusively responsible for sales and marketing activities which:
- Makes Charlottetown a must visit Canadian capital; and
- Makes Prince Edward Island Canada’s most in-demand seaside meeting and convention destination.

 


Provincial Mandate vs. Charlottetown Mandate

 

For the MC&IT market specifically, the sell and brand is Seaside Social - Prince Edward Island. This is a research-based and market-driven approach and is in accordance with our mandate to sell, market and drive MC&IT business provincially. In 2006, 65% of the 158 meetings
recorded were held outside Charlottetown. In 2005, 70% of the meetings recorded took place outside Charlottetown.

All other market segments, as indicated on the previous page, will be Charlottetown focused and branded Walk & Sea Charlottetown ~ Celebrate the Canadian Dream.

 

 

Board of Directors


The Board of Directors shall be composed of ten (10) directors represented by the following:

 

• General Manager of the Charlottetown Civic Centre Management Inc.
• General Manager of the Delta Prince Edward
• President & CEO of Rodd Hotel & Resorts
• President of the Hotel Association of P.E.I. Inc.
• Chair or CEO of the Charlottetown Harbour Authority
• General Manager of the Charlottetown Area Development Corporation


Development Corporation


• General Manager of the Charlottetown Airport Authority
• CEO of the Fathers of Confederation Building Trust
• Three (3) Members at Large:
- TBC
- Ms. Karen Davies – The Inn at St. Peters
- Mr. Kevin Murphy – Murphy Investments Ltd.


There will also be non-voting representation by a Senior Official from ACOA, the councillor responsible for Economic Development & Tourism from the City of Charlottetown and the Deputy Minister of Tourism from the Province of PEI.

 

 

How to Become a Partner with Tourism Charlottetown & the PEI Convention Partnership


Any individual, business or group/association in the PROVINCE OF PEI can become a “Core Partner” of this new company.

 

Partnership Categories:

 

a. Municipal – Independent – Individuals or corporations, active in the tourism industry, who have an operating place of business within the Charlottetown area and have the capability to conduct customer direct business transactions.

 

b. Municipal – Group – Membership organizations representing a destination subset (i.e. tourism associations/business associations) within the Charlottetown area.

 

c. Provincial – Independent – Individuals or corporations, active in the tourism industry, who have an operating place of business outside the boundaries of the Charlottetown area and who have the capability to conduct customer direct business transactions.

 

d. Provincial – Group – Membership organizations representing a destination subset (i.e. tourism associations/business associations) outside of the boundaries of the Charlottetown area.

Core partners will have the opportunity to upgrade their core partnership for enhanced benefits by buying into either the MC&IT Cluster or Leisure/Motorcoach & Sport Cluster.This will be a pay-to-play concept that is inclusive rather than exclusive and premised on businesses selecting clusters that are important to their business goals.

 

Members of the MC&IT Cluster and the Leisure/Motorcoach & Sport Cluster will, by virtue of paid cluster fee, be the working committees of
these two important market segments.

 

THUS, THERE WILL BE TWO (2) WORKING COMMITTEES OF THE COMPANY. The Working Committees will work with the respective staff involved in
